It’s not quite the holidays yet, but it’s not too early to plan for this year’s Nutcracker. Everyone’s favorite holiday tradition is months away but we’ve set the dates for auditions for ages 5 and up. Pre-registration is preferred.
Cinderella

Join Indiana Ballet Theatre as we present Cinderella for our annual spring performance! This beloved favorite is a comedic classical ballet choreographed by Rostislav Zakharov to music composed by Sergei Prokofiev. Watch this fairytale ballet come to life with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother and the crazy step sisters, Esme and Theodora. Don’t miss this this magical, memorable performance, perfect for the entire family of all ages.
Theatre Northwest Location Information: The theatre is located across the street from the main IUN Campus. The theatre is located in the Arts & Sciences Building on the second floor. It is accessible by both stairs and an elevator.

Kaliedoscope 2024

Indiana Ballet Theatre as we present our annual modern-contemporary dance concert KALIEDOSCOPE! Founded and directed by IBT Artistic Director Amanda Tuohy, this contemporary showcase has been a fan favorite since its inception in 1999. Audiences return year after year to enjoy this concert which beautifully and artistically connects movement to the human experience. This performance is perfect for all ages.

Yonally (he/him) is the founder and Artistic Director of Chicago Tap Theatre, one of the most critically well-regarded dance companies in Chicago. They perform an annual three-show season in Chicago and tour both throughout America and Europe. Their performances have been chosen as the Top Ten Dance events of the year by the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, SeeChicagoDance and Windy City Media. Their 2016 Time Travel Story Show, “TimeSteps” was selected as the Best New Production of 2016 by the Dance Magazine Reader’s Poll. Mark has developed a national and international reputation as a performer, with solo performances in Chicago, Helsinki, Barcelona, New York, Amsterdam and Paris. He has been blessed to have Sam Weber, Sarah Petronio, Dianne Walker, Bill Evans and Billy Siegenfeld as mentors. Mark has also recorded with live musicians, including an appearance with the Polyphonic Spree on their song “Mental Cabaret” and on stage with them at Lollapalooza. Learn more about Mark Yonally

50’S Diner Dance

Indiana Ballet Theatre’s Annual Fundraiser will take place at the Family Life Center in Merrillville, Indiana on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Our Annual Event theme for this year is “50’s DINER DANCE”. This fundraiser supports the Classical Arts Centre renovation project that will serve as the future home of IBT and a Northwest Indiana hub for all the arts.
The Classical Arts Centre is located at the northern gateway to Crown Point, the 1930’s Colonial Revival building served as the Nurses’ Home for the Lake County Tuberculosis Sanatorium which was located nearby. As one of the last such buildings in the world, it will become a wonderful addition and arts destination to Northwest Indiana. We are very close to completing the interior of the building thanks to the generosity and support from people and businesses like you!

Coppelia is a classical ballet based on a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann entitled “Der Sandmann” (“The Sandman”), which was published in 1815. The ballet premiered in 1870. Coppelia is a charming, funny and comical ballet for all ages. The classic ballet is full of humor and ballet mime. The story begins with Coppélius, a doctor who has made a life-size dancing doll. It is so lifelike that Franz, a village youth, becomes infatuated with it and sets aside his heart’s true desire, Swanhilda. She shows him his folly by dressing as the doll, pretending to make it come to life. Coppelia is a memorable and captivating ballet that is perfect for all audiences.
