Our vision. Your Centre.
As a commitment to the growth of Indiana Ballet Theater (IBT) and its long-standing legacy of dance education, we at the IBT organization are thrilled to announce the creation of a community arts center. This center will serve as a home not only for IBT but also for other arts organizations aspiring to support and cultivate the arts. The center will be based in the recently renovated Classical Arts Centre (CAC), located at the gateway to Crown Point, Indiana.
The initiative has brought together a motivated and experienced team of art professionals, along with Gloria Tuohy – the founder of IBT – and our efficient board and staff, to launch a capital campaign this year. Our vision is to renovate a historic landmark, which has long been neglected, and create a 20,000-square-foot space to house the community arts center, along with surrounding grounds and gardens in Crown Point. We are excited and dedicated to seeing our dream of a community arts center come to fruition.
Classical Arts Centre Vision
At the heart of the Classical Arts Centre lies an ambitious campus plan, carefully designed to showcase the Centre’s deep-rooted mission of creating a hub for cultural and community events that bring together performers and audiences alike in Northwest Indiana. Our shared working and creative space will boast a dazzling array of amenities, from a sleek black box theatre to studio spaces, leased areas for artists and other arts groups, charming retail spaces for small cafes and dance attire, and even magnificent public gardens and sculptures.
With your meaningful support, the Classical Arts Centre and the IBT, in collaboration with artists and art organizations, will be empowered to make a profound difference in the lives of students and our local community. In the years to come, we will all bear witness to the enriching and transformative outcomes of this grand initiative. Children will flourish, citizens will be uplifted, and a majestic historic building will be restored to its former glory.
