Ballet & Pointe
Placement in ballet classes for dancers age 5 and up is determined through a free placement class audition.
Ages serve as general guidelines. Classes may be adjusted to meet the needs of each dancer and reduce the risk of injury.

Fancy Feet Club
3-5 years
This class includes pre-ballet, tumbling, and tap. It’s fun, imaginative, and designed to help children develop coordination, musicality, and motor skills while learning the basics of movement. It’s a joyful introduction to dance and a great preparation for Primary Ballet. Open to both boys and girls.
Primary Ballet
Ages 5+ (by teacher placement)
Primary Ballet builds on the foundation laid in pre-ballet. Instruction is creative and engaging to help young dancers grow their musicality, coordination, and focus as they prepare for graded levels. Placement is based on ability, not just age.
Grade 1-6 Ballet
Ages 8+ (by teacher placement)
These graded classes provide the foundation for all styles of dance. Dancers build strength, flexibility, technique, and musicality. Each level offers increasing challenges as students grow. Instruction is led by experienced, supportive faculty.
Teen Ballet
Ages 13+ (beginner level)
These beginner-level classes welcome teens who are new to ballet. Classes build strength, confidence, endurance, and technique in a positive, encouraging environment. No previous experience required.

Intermediate Ballet
(by teacher placement, experience required)
This class is for students who are ready for more serious, pre-professional training. Dancers must meet the technical level required for Intermediate and show dedication to their craft. Focus is on advancing classical technique, strength, and performance ability.
Advanced Ballet
(pre-professional and professional level)
Advanced Ballet is for dancers with significant pre-professional training. Due to the rigor of our technique, many dancers from other schools may be placed in Intermediate until readiness for Advanced is confirmed.
Adult Ballet
(by teacher placement)
Our adult ballet program serves beginners through experienced dancers. Instruction is tailored to ability and experience. These classes help develop strength, balance, confidence, and grace in a welcoming and supportive setting.

Pointe and Partnering
Pointe is a major milestone in ballet. IBT currently has over 30 students on pointe and takes great care in preparing dancers for this step. Before starting pointe, dancers must have:
- Correct body alignment and turnout
- Core strength and balance
- Mastery of foundational ballet technique
- Physical and emotional maturity
Only students approved by IBT directors after teacher recommendation may begin pointe.
Partnering classes are also offered throughout the year in conjunction with our pointe program.
